the last batch promised by Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.

Governor Ododo had earlier this year presented 34 SUV cars to the state judiciary for use of high judges and other high ranking judicial staff.

With the presentation of the vehicles, all high court judges now have official vehicles attached to them.

The State Commissioner of Justice, Hon. Abdullahi Y. Muiz (SAN), who represented Governor Ododo at the event said the gesture was just the beginning of his administration’s desire to assist and make reasonable contributions to the judiciary.

While assuring the judiciary of his full cooperation, Governor Ododo urged judges at the lower courts to keep faith with the administration.

He also reiterated his earlier promise to reward and better their welfare soon.

According to him, the administration will continue to make moves to oil the administration of justice in the state and further improve service delivery in the judiciary.

He also promised to uplift the living condition of judges, saying that his administration will soon embark upon renovation of courts in the state.

“The welfare of our judges in the state who strive hard day and night to ensure that the state is safe and also resolve disputes of the people of Kogi state shall be on autopilot,” he promised.

He assured the judiciary of the commitment of his administration to ensure that Justice remains the last hope of the common man, in order to promote peace and security.

While receiving the vehicles, the Chief Judge of Kogi State, Hon. Justice Josiah Majebi commended the gesture, describing it as unprecedented.

He added that it was a demonstration of the governor’s integrity to keep his promise at improving the Judiciary.

Mejabi said : “The acid test to determine a responsible and responsive leader is this.

“How much does he honour his words or promises.

“It is an acid test. Wherever you are and you are a leader, this is what is the basic requirements to evaluate you as being a responsible and sincere leader.

” I have no doubt in the integrity of His Excellency to do what he has promised to do.”

The Chief Judge then expressed the gratitude of the state Judiciary to the governor for his vision for the sector, promising not to let him down.

Mejabi also extolled the virtues of the Commissioner for Justice and expressed his implicit confidence in his capacity and capabilities to deliver on his mandate.

Je said his was undoubtedly based on merit and competence, urging him to continue to remain true to the judiciary.

He recalled Hon. Muiz’s tenure as Chairman, Kogi State NBA, saying that the period witnessed a remarkable turn around for the association.

He further described him as a “reliable, patient and errand boy of the state judiciary. And you have not disappointed us.”

Mejabi while expressing the appreciation of the judiciary to the governor, vowed that it would continue to carry out its duties with utmost diligence, professionalism and dedication to the principles of justice.

The ceremony was witnessed by the Grand Khadi, Sharia Court of Appeal; President, Court of Appeal; Judges of the State High Courts; Khadis of the Sharia Court of Appeal, and a host of other stakeholders in the judiciary.

The Chief Judge in turn handed them over the vehicles to the judges on the spot to the admiration of the staff.
