The Minister of Defence, Alhaji Mohammed Badaru has donated N20 million to victims of the recent flood disaster in Jigawa State.
The Minister said the donation was to help the ongoing relief efforts being made by the Jigawa State government.
The Director of Information and Public Relations, Ministry of Defence, Henshaw Ogubike said this in a statement.
The flood disaster resulted in the loss of lives and properties and means of livelihoods of many of the victims.
Badaru, a former governor of the state made the donation to the state government when he paid a visit to Governor Umar Namadi to commiserate with him and the people of the State.
Ogubike quoted the Minister as expressing his sympathy over the lives lost in the flood, destroying farmlands across the State.
He conveyed the sympathy of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the government and good people of Jigawa State, reaffirming the federal government’s commitment to assisting the state in the challenging period.
The Minister appreciated the state Governor Namadi whose leadership provided a swift response to the flood crisis. (vitalnewsngr.com)
