President Bola Tinubu has appealed to sponsors and proponents of the planned nationwide protest to shelve their agitation as the government is doing everything legally possible to reposition the country’s economy.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Muhammad Idris, who met with the President on the issue and other concerns being raised by citizens, said the President saw no need for the planned protest, giving the immediacy with which identified problems are being addressed.

Citing some of the immediate actions taken to address the concerns of citizens, the Minister said even the recent agreement on the National Minimum Wage communicated to the National Assembly had passed just a day after it was transmitted.

“Mr. President has again asked me to inform Nigerians that he listens to them, especially the young people who are trying to protest.

“Mr. President is listening to them. He takes what they say seriously and he’s working assiduously to ensure that this country is good, not just for today, but also for the future”.

“The issue of the planned protest, Mr. President does not see any reason for that.

“He has asked them to shun that plan and urged them to wait for the government’s response to all their pleas.

“After the passage of the new minimum wage, a lot of other interventions the President has put in place will also be looked at expeditiously in the interest of Nigerians.

“The President is working”, the Minister emphasized.

He called on the youth to listen to the President and allow him more time to see to the realization of all the goodies he has for them.

Idris also said the government was now set to reposition the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, the Nigerian Television Authority, the News Agency of Nigeria, and the Voice of Nigeria, to deliver better services, being the public information establishments of the country. (vitalnewsngr.com)
