Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has attributed the current power blackout in many parts of Ibadan, Ijebu – Ode and Ibrapaland to the lockdown of Ayede Transmission Station by the Oyo State government.
The IBEDC stated this in a public notice in Ibadan on Monday.
IBEDC did not give any reason for the lockdown of the station at South West Ring Road by government.
It , however, acknowledged its inability to supply power to consumers in the affected areas since the past three days due to the lockdown.
IBEDC said the lockdown had prevented its technicians from gaining access to the station in order to address various faults and this has led to blackout in many communities in the state.
The blackout had affected power feeders at Lanlate Interchange as well as Express 33 KVA.
Many communities in Ibadan, Ibarapa and of Ijebu Ode are currently in darkness.
Areas and communities affected in Ibadan include Challenge, Odo Ona Elewe, Molete, New Garage, Idi Ayunre, Omi Adio, Soka, Boluwaji, Ayegun, Oleyo, Koso among others.
The entire communities of Eruwa, Lanlate, Igboora, Igangan, Ayete, Tapa and Idere were affected by the blackout.
