Ododo Swears In 10 New Judges, Charges Them To Be Intentional In Promoting Justice

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State on Wednesday sworn in 10 newly appointed judges into the state judiciary.

The swearing in ceremony was held at the Muhammadu Buhari Civic Centre, Lokoja

The newly sworn in Judges consist of four high Court Judges, five Sharia Court of Appeal Judges and one Customary Court of Appeal Judge.

The Judges sworn into the state high court are Ajesola Joseph Sunday, Ojoma Rachael Haruna, Badama Kadiri and Ezema Beatrice Ada

Those sworn in as Sharia Court of Appeal Judges and Customary Court of Appeal Judge.are Muhammed Bello Muhammed, Okino Isah Saidu, Yakubu Adevenge Abbas, Shaibu Ridwan Aliyu, Idris Alhaji Abdullahi and Maryan Oziohu Otaru.

The new high court judges being sworn in by Governor Ododo.

Speaking at the event, Ododo charged the newly sworn in judges to uphold the tenet of their profession.

He said : “One of the cardinal pillars of every society is the administration of justice.

“We must not only be just and fair, but must be seen to be intentional in promoting justice for all.

“A just and fair society where everyone is treated equally is bound to be peaceful.

“As the last hope of the Common Man, the Judiciary own the society an obligation to be just and fair.

“A judiciary trusted by the People will promote peace and security.

“An unjust judiciary is a recipe for anarchy and crime.”

While noting that the newly sworn in Judges are men and Women of unquestionable character, Governor Ododo maintained that his administration will continue to give the judiciary free hand to play its role in ensuring societal stability.

“A just and fair society is where everybody is treated equally regardless of class, religion and ethnicity.

“Therefore you must be reminded and be guided by the oats you have taken” he said.

The new Sharia Court of Appeal judges being sworn in on Wednesday by Governor Ododo.

He promised that his administration will provide and support the new judges to discharge their statutory responsibility.

“I am offering you vehicles to enhance your mobility and I will also guarantee your safety in  view of the nature of your job, ” the Governor assured.

He then called on the people of the State to support the laudable policies and programmes of the federal government to enable President Bola
Tinubu to lift Nigerians from the inherited difficulties.

The Chief Judge of Kogi State, Justice Josiah Majebi alongside the State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice Muizudeen Abdullahi both commended Governor Ododo for his support for judiciary officers in the State.

Justice Majebi charged the new judges to respect the integrity of the litigants, noting that as a minister of justice they should shun media trial of any body.

While expressing appreciation to Governor Ododo for his support to the Judiciary, the Chief Judge urged the family members of the new judges not to interfere with their job.

In his remark, the state Attorney – General and Commissioner for Justice, Muiz Abdallah charged the judges to showcase their worth to justify their selection as judges of the state.

He urged them to be up and doing and shun activities that can ridicule the Judiciary,  appealing to them to put the interest of the state over and above any other interest in the discharge of their duties.

Highlight of the event was the presentation of brand new official cars to the 10 judges to enhance their effectively performance in their duty posts.   (vitalnewsngr.com)
