The Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Dr. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has extended warm congratulations to Prof. Senayon Olaoluwa on his appointment as the inaugural Director-General of Africa’s pioneering Diaspora Centre of Excellence.
Funded by TETFUND, the innovative centre is an initiative of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, in collaboration with the University of Ibadan.
In her message of congratulations, Dr. Dabiri-Erewa applauds Prof. Olaoluwa’s dedication and expertise, expressing confidence in his ability to lead the Center towards realizing its ambitious goals for the betterment of humanity.
She urged Prof. Olaoluwa to swiftly leverage the strategic advantages of locating the center within the University of Ibadan, renowned for its excellence in research and scholarship, ensuring maximum impact and benefit for all stakeholders.
Prof. Senayon Olaoluwa’s appointment takes effect from March 1, 2024 and it is for three years.
The Professor of Diaspora Studies was the founding Co-ordinator of the Diaspora and Trans-National Studies programme at the Institute of African Studies, University of Ibadan, where he was the former director.
Prof. Olaoluwa has worked to develop the graduate programme to an enviable level through the encouragement of cutting-edge research by faculty and students.
The construction of the centre would commence soon with the release of One billion naira to the university by TETFUND.
