The Forum of former Members of Kogi State House of Assembly has declared its support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its Candidate in the November 11 governorship election, Ahmed Usman Ododo.
The forum which comprise mainly of members of sixth and seventh assembly declared their position at a press conference in Lokoja on Thursday.
The Chairman of the forum, Alhaji Alhassan Adakeke told newsmen the Ahmed Usman Ododo is their candidate for the election.
Adakeke who was with 20 other members of the forum at the press conference said their endorsement of Ododo is a product of series of meetings, consultations and engagements with other critical stakeholders across the three senatorial districts of the state.
He commended Governor Yahaya Bello for putting the state on path of progress and national consciousness.
Adakeke also described Bello as the best governor since the creation of the state, adding that their adoption of Ododo to succeed Bello was to ensure consolidation and continuity of the good works started by the outgoing governor.
According to him, Ododo is the most qualified, experienced and prepared for the job among those contesting the November 11 governorship election.
He further described Ododo as accessible, humble, and a man of impeccable character devoid of controversies, urging electorate to vote massively for him.
Adakeke said Ododo as Accountant -General of the state ensured transparency and accountability, saying that he is well equipped to pedal the wheel of development of the state. forward.
“We hereby unanimously declare the support of former legislators to the candidacy of the Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Ahmed Usman Ododo.
” Our members have resolved to work hard throughout the state to deliver him resoundingly on November 11, 2023.
” We have no doubt that we will celebrate our victory and the future of our dear state will be guaranteed.
” We will work hard to deliver him unconditionally on Nov.11.
“Revolution ongoing in the education, health , agric sectors need to be sustained, we are for continuity, consolidation , we are for Ahmed Usman Ododo.
“We supported President Bola Tinubu to win, we will continue on this path by delivering Ododo on November 11.
“Kogi is too central to Nigeria to be handed over to the opposition, APC will remain the ruling party in the state,” the Forum Chairman said.
The forum called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to activate relevant sections of the electoral act against any party or candidate found to be fanning embers of ethnicity, violence ahead of election.
