Osogbo – The Osun State University (UNIOSUN), has suspended one of its female student, Ahiante Victory Ehiremen, for her role in luring a man from Lagos to Osun, to rob him of his N1.5million.

The management of the school which announced the disciplinary measure on Thursday in Osogbo said the 17- yeard old Ahiante Victory will remain on indefinite suspension until the case is disposed off by the police .

The state police command had on Tuesday announced that the student through the social media lured his victim to Ikire, Osun State , where he was robbed of his N1.5million.

The state police Command Spokesperson, SP Yemisi Opalola, said the victim was lured to Ikire in Irewole Local Government Area by the teenager, on June 28.

According to her, the girl arranged with other suspects and allegedly robbed the man of his phone, which they used to transfer N1.5 million from his bank account.

“On June 28, at about 1.30 p.m, a complainant reported at Ikire Police Division that he met one girl (name withheld) on social media and they started chatting.

“He added that he was later invited to come to Osun from Lagos State by the girl.

“He stated further that, when he came to Ikire, the girl lured him to her boyfriend’s house where he met some unscrupulous elements who attacked him and collected his phone, which they used to transfer the sum of N1.5 million from his account.” she said.

The police spokesperson added that immediately the case was reported, police detectives swung into action and arrested the suspect and one Ariyo Ayobami at their hideout.

She said preliminary investigation also led to the arrest of another accomplice, while efforts were on to arrest other suspects.

However, in a swift reaction, the management of UNIOSUN ordered Ahiante Victory to proceed on indefinitely for her role in robbing her social media boyfriend.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Clement Adebooye said the institution suspended her in line with the rules of the school.

“We are here to clear the air on the issue of one of our students by the name Ahiante Victory Ehiremen with Matric Number 2022/42652, who is in the custody of the Police for alleged collusion, leading to the robbery of a Lagos-based businessman.

“Prior to her arrest on 11th July, 2023, she was a 100 Level student in the Department of English and Literary Studies.

“The case of Ahiante Victory Ehiremen is a shock to us, even as she is in her first year of study.

“I got a security report on her case, and with the official information available, an allegation of conspiracy and robbery has been established against her by the Police authorities.

“Consequently, she is in police custody for further investigations and prosecution.

“Ahiante Victory Ehiremen’s alleged involvement in a criminal act is in violation of her matriculation oath.

“She has made a written statement which the University has considered alongside the available intelligence report.

“The University authorities have therefore decided that Ms Ahiante Victory Ehiremen hereby placed on indefinite suspension in line with regulations guiding studentship pending the determination of her case according the law of the Federation”, he said. (NAN/vitalnewsngr.com)
