Chief Timipre Sylva, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, has resigned from office.
Sources said the minister submitted his letter of resignation to President
Muhammadu Buhari on Friday.
This comes after Sylva declared his intent to participate in the forthcoming All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election in April, in preparation for the Bayelsa governorship election.
Sylva had governed Bayelsa for one term and still has constitutional rights to contest for another tenure.
When contacted, Horatius Egua, the minister’s senior adviser on media and communications, said he could not deny or confirm the resignation.
According to him, he had not seen the resignation letter or been officially informed of the resignation by the minister. (NAN/vitalnewsngr.com)
