Former Chief of General Staff, Lt. – General Oladipo Diya is dead.
Diya, also a forme military governor of Ogun State died in the early hours of Sunday, March 26, 2023.
He died few days to his 79th birthday having been born on April 3, 1944 at Odogbolu, Ogun State.
He was the second in command as Chief of General Staff in the administration of General Sani Abacha from November 1993 to 1995 when he was attested for coup plot along with some other officers.
His son, Barrister Oyesinmilola Diya, announced his death in a statement in Lagos Sunday morning.
“On behalf of the entire Diya family home and abroad; We announce the passing on to Glory of our dear Husband, Father, Grandfather,brother, Lt- General Donaldson Oladipo Oyeyinka Diya (Rtd) GCON, LLB, BL, PSC, FSS, mni.
“Our dear Daddy passed onto glory in the early hours of 26th March 2023.
Please keep us in your prayers as we mourn his demise in this period. Further announcements will be made public in due course,” the statement said.
