The 721pilgrims from Kogi State to this year’s hajj will on Monday, June 12, 2023, depart Madinah for Mecca to continue their hajj activities.
The state Amirul Hajj, Mallam Zakariyahu Aliyu Abubakar disclosed while giving updates on the ongoing hajj exercise in Saudi Arabia.
“All the pilgrims will leave for Makkah on Monday, June 12, 2023 in preparation for the real Hajj activities after concluding the Hajj preliminaries which started from Madinah,” he said.
The pilgrims who were flown from Abuja to Medinah in two batches on June 5 and June 6 had while in Madinah visited spiritual and historical sites as part of hajj activities .
The pilgrims commenced the visit to the historical and spiritual sites in Madinah on Thursday, June 8, 2023.
Prominent among the places visited were, Quba the first Mosque built by Prophet Muhammad (pboh) in which a reward for Salat offered here is equivalent for a performance of Umrah (lesser Hajj), Qiblatain Mosque, a place where the direction for Salat was changed from Al-Aqsa in Jerusalem to Makkah and Uhud mountain where the second war against the Prophet and the Muslims was fought and at its foot where the 72 famous martyrs, including the gallant Hamza the Prophet’s uncle were buried.
