All Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Assembly candidates in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have agreed to step down and declare full support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Assembly candidates.
The landmark agreement was reached at the Rainbow Coalition meeting hosted by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, at his Abuja residence on Sunday.
It was gathered that the meeting, which brought together top stakeholders of both the APC and PDP in the FCT, was aimed at forging a united political front in the nation’s capital.
According to sources present at the meeting, after extensive deliberations, all PDP candidates for Senate and House of Representatives in the FCT voluntarily resolved to collapse their structures and throw their weight behind their APC counterparts.
In addition to supporting the APC Senatorial and House of Representatives candidates, the coalition formally agreed to back President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign for the 2027 presidency.
Wike also declared himself the field commander for operations, pledging to personally coordinate President Tinubu’s 2027 campaign structures within both the FCT and Rivers State.
The move is seen as a massive boost for the APC in the FCT and a further consolidation of Minister Wike’s political influence in Abuja.
The Rainbow Coalition is believed to be Wike’s strategic platform for building a bipartisan alliance to deliver the FCT for President Bola Tinubu and the APC in 2027.
