Yola – The Executive Secretary of Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency, Dr. Suleiman Muhammad said 10 persons were killed and many displaced by floods that recently ravaged some parts of Girei Local Government area of the state.
Muhammad said Jabbi Lamba town and its environs in Girei Local government area were badly affected by the torrential rainfall of Thursday, August, 19.
He, however, said six corpses of the victims had been recovered while four are still misding.
“The disaster is not unconnected to torrential rainfalls which lasted over 15 hours across the state.
“Six corpses have been recovered while four others are still missing. The natural disaster led to the hospitalisation of three kids after a building collapsed on them in the town,” he said.
According to him, the agency has sent out a distress call to the National Emergency Management Agency and other humanitarian bodies, adding that an assessment team had been detailed to visit affected communities to ascertain the level of damage caused by the flood. (vitalnewsngr.com)
