UPF Honours Biafra Interim Leader, Spokesperson, Simon Ekpa In Denmark
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The long quest for the realisation and exit of the Republic of Biafra from Nigeria through a peaceful Referendum has continue to attract the attention of the international world, Simon Ekpa, the spokesman and Interim Leader of Biafra has said.

Ekpa was quoted as saying this in a statement signed by Dr Ngozi Orabueze, Coordinator, The New Dimension Mandate, a non-profit making organisation.

The statement released to newsmen in Abuja on Sunday said Ekpa stated this while speaking as special guest of honour at the Second Nordic Seminar on Principles of Peace held on Saturday, March 25, 2023, in Denmark.

He mentioned the Universal
Peace Freedom as one of the international groups that has shown interest in Biafra.

‘”The principles explain that all people wish to experience freedom, peace, unity, and happiness and explore how these concepts could be realized in a world full of conflict, division, selfishness and greed,” he said.

The Seminar, which was primarily organized for Ambassadors for Peace promotes strategies and projects based on the principles of “interdependence, mutual
prosperity and universal – shared values” and encourages people of all faiths to work together.

“In line with the resilience and the need for a peaceful exit of the Southeastern Nigeria Citizens that occupy the Biafra territory, the Biafra Spokesperson, and Interim Leader of Biafrans under the leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, Simon Ekpa who further explained that the injustice, hatred, killings, and inequity that has been meted out to the Biafrans, especially the Igbos under the current Nigeria state.

He explained the pain and
agony that a typical Igbo/Biafran indigene goes through in the hand of the Nigeria government.

According to him, such hatred, anger and disenfranchisement were exhibited in an operational failure in the recently concluded presidential, governorship and house of representative’s elections in Nigeria.

“In a bid to build bridges and networks for the liberation of Biafra, the meeting with the Biafra Spokesperson and Interim Leader Simon Ekpa was very successful.

“Many doors were opened, and souls converted based on facts and group ideologies.

“As a result of this engagement, we will be having a high-level zoom meeting in April where some of the organizations dignitaries from within Nordic countries will participate and have the real knowledge of what is going on between Nigeria and Biafra and the need to support Biafra independence and restoration.

“From today’s meeting, we are moving with speed to the diplomatic phase of Biafra Liberation,” Ekpa was quoted ss saying in the statement.

“The Biafrans from Southeast Nigeria had for the past one year consistently engaged in a civil disobedience through a Monday sit-at-home called by majority of them through their Spokesperson and Interim leader, Simon Ekpa.

“The sit at home seeks the release of Nnamdi Kanu (the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra from Nigeria state detention and call for Referendum for Biafrans.

“Nnamdi Kanu has been acquitted and discharged by two constituted Nigerian courts.

“His release with compensation has also been called by the United Nations Human Rights Council Working Group on Arbitrary Detention.

“The Nigeria government has refused to release Nnamdi Kanu, call for Referendum or address
the Biafra agitation.

“The government on the contrary has engaged in the use of kinetics, intimidation, killings, suppression, oppression, and detention of Biafrans from Southeast Nigeria who dare to speak on self-determination.

“These killings have been reinforced with the Nigeria government’s policy of rehabilitation and
reintegration of known terrorists into the country’s military, police and other security forces.

“These security forces have engaged in killing, burning of homes and businesses, arrests
and intimidation of Southeastern Biafran youths, men and women.

“The government both at the federal and state levels has not been able to stop/intervene in these killings.

“The persistent burning of Igbo indigenous markets and means of livelihood across the country by the agents of the Nigeria government, the killing of Igbos in some parts of the country for exercising their voters right as witnessed during the just concluded governorship and house of assembly elections in Nigeria, the extrajudicial killings of Igbos by the Nigeria government, military, police and security forces, the arrest and detention of Igbo citizens across different jails in Nigeria for their belief and self-determination all adds up to the undeniable fact that the Igbos and Biafrans have become an endangered race in the Nigeria state.

“The call for Biafra exits from Nigeria currently is urgent.

“The call for Referendum by Nigerians from the Southeastern part of Nigeria, Biafra territory is currently being championed by Simon Ekpa who has been in the forefront of peaceful call for Referendum for the Indigenous People of Biafra
(IPOB).

“The Nigeria government has branded the IPOB a terrorist organization while shielding the major Fulani Jihadists Terrorists Herdsmen who are his kinsmen and one of the most brutal terrorist groups in Nigeria and West Africa.

“The government has used its suppressed media and connections across the world to discredit IPOB and Simon Ekpa who has been the major source/message of hope, peace, justice, and equity that Nigerians especially those from the Southeastern part of Nigeria, Biafra territory needs, trusts, listens to, as well as follows his recommendations.

“The recognition of Simon Ekpa at the Universal Peace Freedom Seminar in Denmark today March 26, 2023 has once again confirmed to the world that the call for Biafra restoration and Referendum is real, should be respected and honored and stands as one of the best options to reduce tension, reduce terrorism and safeguard humanity in that part of the world,” the statement said.
