The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) has suspended one of its lecturers, Mr Chigozie Odum, over allegations that he impregnated four students of the university
Odum joined the services of the university four years ago.
The university confirmed the suspension in an official statement signed by the Deputy Registrar, Mrs. Achiuwa F. C., on behalf of the Registrar.
“This action follows serious allegations brought against Mr. Odum, which the university is investigating,” the statement read in part.
The case has sparked widespread reactions both within and outside the institution, with many calling for a thorough probe into the lecturer’s conduct.
Meanwhile,student and staff unions have urged the university management to ensure justice either by exonerating or punishing the accused based on the investigation’s findings.
UNN authorities have yet to disclose the next steps regarding disciplinary measures, but sources indicate that an internal panel may be set up to review the allegations. (vitalnewsngr.com)
