Tragedy As 22 members Of Kano Contingent To National Sports Festival In Abeokuta Perish In Crash

Twenty-two members of the Kano State contingent to the just concluded 22nd National Sports Festival in Abeokuta have lost their lives in a fatal motor accident.

The sports men died when the bus in they were travelling rammed into Dakatsalle bridge in Kura Local Government Area of Kano State.

The accident occured Saturday morning.

Among the dead are athletes, journalists, medical personnel and administrators.

Athletes that won 29 medals for Kano State during the games which officially on Friday were among the dead.

The bus was carrying 35 passengers as st the time of the accident but 22 of them have been confirmed dead.

One of the passengers who survived the crash ,
Ado Salisu Gama said the victims died on the spot while others were rushed to Kura General Hospital.

“Twenty -two people have been confirmed dead at Dakatsalle bridge, just before Kura.

“The driver too is dead. As I speak with you, one other member just died,” Salisu said.

According to Salisu, others still at the hospital are receiving care. (vitalnewsngr.com)
