President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has appointed Major-General Adamu Garba Laka as the new National Co-ordinator of the National Counter-Terrorism Centre, operating under the Office of the National Security Adviser.
The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale announced this in a statement on Tuesday.
The statement highlighted the approval of General Laka’s appointment, signalling a strategic shift in the leadership of the Counter-Terrorism Centre.
General Laka brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having served in various capacities in the North-East region of Nigeria.
His tactical prowess has been instrumental in degrading terrorist groups operating in the region in previous years.
He also served in Sierra Leone and the Democratic Republic of Congo under the United Nations and was part of the Nigerian contingent in the US AFRICOM exercise in Senegal.
General Laka holds a Master’s Degree in National Security from the National Defence University, Pakistan, and in International Affairs and Strategic Studies, Nigerian Defence Academy
Ngelale, stated that the President has high expectations for General Laka, urging him to leverage his wealth of experience to efficiently mitigate security threats through pre-emptive, proactive, and diligent counter-terrorism coordination. (vitalnewsngr.com)
