The Timi of Ede, Oba (Dr) Munirudeen Adesola Lawal, Agbale Laminisa 1, will on June 7 confer the honorary chieftaincy title of Jagunmolu of Edeland on former Minister of Interior, Lt. Gen. Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau.
A statement by the Chairman, Planning Committee, Prof. Tajudeen Akanji said Dambazau who was also a former Chief of Army was being honoured in recognition of his contributions to the growth of Ede and service to the country.
Akanji said the installation ceremony will hold at the palace of Timi in Ede, Osun State on Wednesday June 7, 2023.
He said the choice of Dambazau for the prestigious honorary chieftaincy title stemmed from the fact that he has distinguished himself as a personality with a remarkable track record of service and leadership.
” He has been chosen for this prestigious role due to his significant contributions to the nation and his unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people.
“As the Barade of Kano, Dambazau has consistently demonstrated exceptional dedication to public service, and his appointment as Jagunmolu of Ede land further attests to his esteemed reputation and influence in the community,” Akanji said in the statement .
The installation ceremony was
part of activities lined up to commemorate the 15th Coronation Anniversary of the reigning of Timi Ede.
Chieftancy titles will also be conferred on some notable figures by the traditional ruler.
Other hilights of the coronation anniversary are Special Jumat and Sunday Service as well as Royal night.
The grand finale of the event is the Coronation Anniversary on Saturday June 10, at Ede High school playground where Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State will be the Chief Host and Special Guest of Honour of the Day.
The installation and Coronation ceremonies according to Akanji, promises to be a grand event filled with traditional pomp and celebration, befitting the occasion .
“The entire Ede community eagerly anticipate this auspicious occasion, which will not only commemorate the 15th Coronation Anniversary but also reinforce the bond between Lt. – General Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau, an indigene of Kano and the people of Ede land.”
