Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State, on Wednesday, presented a budget estimate of ₦650,631,700,000 to the State House of Assembly for the 2026 fiscal year.
The governor told the members at plenary that the budget tagged “Budget of Development” is focused on massive infrastructural development next year.
He said : “every Kobo must become a road that connects communities, youths who are empowered, productive and vibrant, hospitals that save lives and schools that provide conducive learning environment for the children.”
The governor said ₦467, 741,601,414, representing 70.36% is for capital expenditure while ₦192,890,985,086, representing 29.64% is projected to take care of recurrent expenditure.
According to the governor, the budget is projecting Internally Generated Revenue of ₦29.78billion, FAAC ₦376.16 billion while the rest will come from other sources.
He noted that as at September ending, the 2025 budget had recorded 37% implementation of capital provision and 50.7% recurrent performance.
Speaker of the House Hon. Kizito Bonzana in his speech said that the house will give the budget accelerated legislative consideration to ensure timely passage.
“Since inception of this administration, this is the third time the house has the privilege to play host to the governor for this purpose.
“The house and people of the state are proud to have you leading the state and performing your work creditably well.
“Let me inform you and the good people of Taraba State that political exigencies have transformed the 10th Assembly to a single party House.
“This may seem unprecedented but the benefits are not quantifiable.
“This will enhance unity, partnership, synergy and collaboration to facilitate development for the people.
“The decision to join the APC was done after due consultation with our constituents.
“I commend you for some of the modest achievements so far.
“People call the 10th Assembly a rubber stamp Assembly but the members are elected to work with the Executive and not to antagonise them.
“We would go with you everywhere you go. I promise accelerated legislative action to ensure timely passage, taking note of all that needs to be done in line with our rules,” the Speaker assured.
