The Senate on Tuesday set an 18-man committee to oversee the administration of Rivers State under the Sole Administrator, retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas.

Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President, announced the constitution of the committee during plenary.

According to him, the committee was set up to strengthen the administration of Rivers State by ensuring transparency and accountability in the governance.

Akpabio said the committee’s role was also critical in ensuring effective legislative oversight in Rivers State, adding that the Senate was committed to upholding democratic processes in the state.

He directed the committee to commence its assignment immediately, adding that the composition of the committee might be reviewed after further consultations.
