Sanwo – olu Explains Why Lagos Places Priority On Safety In Schools

Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu says safety in all schools, whether private or public,is a very important factor that his administration cannot afford to downplay.

The governor stated this at the Inaugural Edition of The Beacon of Safety Awards and Conference recently held at the Civic Center, Victoria Island , Lagos.

He said safety in schools will ultimately determine the level of success government will achieve in the educational sector.

“Security of life and property in our schools is one that we must pay serious attention to.It should be everybody’s business,” he emphasised.

The governor, represented by the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Youth and Social Development,Mr Mobolaji Ogunlende said “while we celebrate excellence in school safety,I encourage all stakeholders to recommit themselves to ensuring the safety and well-being of every child our communities.”

The event was organised by Safe Schools Lagos in partnership with the Lagos State Safety Commission to recognise and appreciate schools, individuals and organisations in Lagos State that have consistently adhere to safety precautions and prioritised the well-being of their communities.

In attendance were diverse stakeholders in safety, education and social development sector who used the occasion as a unique platform to exchange knowledge, formulate innovative policies to guarantee the safety of students and educators as well as develop best practices.
