Lokoja – Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State has promised to enthrone good governance if elected the President of Nigeria in 2023.

Tambuwal who is a presidential aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) made the promise in Lokoja on Monday during a meeting with delegates from Kogi State.

He promised to ensure good governance anchored on transparency, probity and accountability.

Tambuwal who stated that he has never been found wanting in all offices he has occupied also promised to be fair and just to all parts of the country in the distribution of appointments and projects.

The governor who was also a one time Speaker of the House of Representatives said that he will bring his wealth of experience and youthful energy to bear in the running of the affairs of the country.

He said virtually all parts of the country are having their own fair share of insecurity, promising to work with security agencies and relevant stakeholders to confront the problem of banditry, insurgency, kidnapping and armed robbery.

Tambuwal who stated that in spite of daunting challenges, he has been paying salary, pension and gratuity regularly in addition to executing life changing projects in Sokoto State promised to replicate same at the national level as from 2023.

“I have the character, competency and capacity to manage and run the affairs of Nigeria successfully,” he told the delegates.

He warned Nigerians of the danger of allowing the APC to remain in power beyond 2023, saying Nigerians must rescue themselves by voting out all APC candidates in the coming elections.

“Nigeria has never been so divided. An APC person will
only continue with the present policy and programmes of the incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari. Nigerians cannot continue to go through hardship, hunger, poverty, deprivations, insecurity and infrastructural failure,” he said.

The governor then appealed to delegates to partner with him and join in him the struggle to provide quality leadership for Nigeria by voting for him to become the Presidential candidate of the PDP.

He promised not to take undue advantage of his position as the President just like he did not as the Speaker of House of Representatives and now, governor of Sokoto State.

At the meeting were former state governors, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris and Capt Idris Wada, state executive council members, national assembly members and delegates from across the 21 local government areas of the state.

The state Chairman of the PDP, Mr Sam Ohuotu in his welcome address commended Tambuwal for the way and manner he managed the crisis surrounding the killing of Deborah Samuel by some some Muslim fanatics.

He said that Tambuwal has shown leadership and character by his successful handling of the crisis, saying this has shown that is a good presidential material. (vitalnews)
