Lokoja – The Kogi State Police command said it has commenced investigation into the mysterious circumstances that led to the death of nine members of a family in Nagazi, Adavi Local Government of Kogi State.
Kogi State Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP William Ovye Aya said this in Lokoja on Tuesday.
The incident which happened on Monday, October 3 has thrown the entire area into mourning.
The tragic incident is coming few days after four members of a family died in Mopa-Muro Local Government Area of the state.
The victims, a father , two of his daughters and a relation died after allegedly eating cassava flour meal.
Aya said police will go all out to ascertain the cause of the latest deaths in Nagazi.
Aya said five members of the family died instantly while two others died at the General Hospital, Obangede where they were rushed to for treatment.
He said the corpses of the victims have brought to the morgue of the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja.
It is being speculated that the people died shortly after a meal of cassava flour.
However, a family source, said the deaths could be due to spiritual attack.
The source the father of the victims us a well known herbalist in the area who was said to be recanting incantations when the incident happened.
“What happened has nothing to do with food poisoning. It is spiritual” the source insisted.(vitalnewsngr.com)
