Lokoja – Police in Kogi State have rescued Mr Yahaya Shagari, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi East Senatorial District from kidnappers.
The state police command in a statement in Lokoja on Saturday said Shagari was rescued on Friday during a joint security operation.
The Chairman was in captivity for ten days before being rescued.
The statement signed by the command’s spokesman, William Aya said the joint security operation was led by the Area Commander, Idah, ACP Alexander Asagade.
He said the operatives stormed the suspected kidnappers’ hideout inside bush where the APC Chairman and other victims were being held.
“On sighting the operatives, the hoodlums engaged the operatives in gun duel.
“During the process, one of the suspects was neutralized, two others arrested and the victim rescued unhurt.
“The operation was successful following a reliable information about the suspected kidnappers hideout in the bush,” he said.

commended the Area Commander and the joint security operatives for their gallantry during the operation.
He urged them to sustain the ongoing onslaught against criminalities in their area of responsibilities.
The Commissioner then assured members of the the public of the command’s readiness in synergy with other security agencies in the State to ensure adequate security of life and properties. (vitalnewsngr.com)
