Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Bethrand Onuoha has presented cheques amounting to N48,681,738.48k to the families of 22 police officers that died while in active service.
The beneficiaries also include families of policemen that sustained injuries through accident while carrying out official duty.
SP William Ovye AYA, Police Public Relations Officer, of the command said Onuoha presented the cheques on behalf of the Inspector – General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
He quoted Onuoha as explaining that the gesture was part of the welfare packages aimed at enhancing the welfare of the families of the deceased Officers and to equally support Officers who are victims of accident.
He added that, the gesture was also to encourage Other Officers in active service to be diligent.
Onuoha on behalf of the IG-P expressed condolences to the families of the deceased Officers.
He reiterated the IGP’s unwavering commitment to improving the welfare of serving and retired Officers.
The Commissioner advised the accident victims to take care of themselves, urging the families of deceased officers to make the best use of the money.
