Police get two new DIGs, 6 AIGs, 17 Commissioners

The Police Service Commission has approved the elevation of two Assistant Inspectors-General (AIGs) of police to the position of Deputy Inspectors-General of police (DIGs).

They are AIG
Zaki M. Ahmed and AIG Johnson Babatunde Kokumo.

The Commission in a statement said Zaki was promoted to cover the vacant duty post that was created as a result of the retirement of DIG Tijjani Baba who retired on October 6th, 2021 while AIG Kokumo will be filling the gap left by DIG David Oyebanji Folawiyo who retired on 21st November 2021.

The statement issued in Abuja and signed by he spokesperson of the commission, Mr Ikechukwu Ani said six commissioners of Police were also promoted to the position of Assistant Inspectors-General of Police .

Also promoted by the Commission are 17 Deputy Commissioners of Police to the position of substantive Commissioners of Police.

” The Commission also approved the promotion of 24 Assistant Commissioners of Police to the next rank of Deputy Commissioners of Police and 49 Chief Superintendents of Police to the rank of Assistant Commissioners,” Ani said in the statement.

According to the statement , 74 Superintendents of Police were also elevated to the rank of Chief Superintendents and 866 Deputy Superintendents of Police to the rank of Superintendents.

” It also during the meeting approved the confirmation of 7,166 ASP11 to ASP1 and considered 24 promotion appeals relating to adjustment in promotion dates, seniority etc.,” the statement said.

Ani said that all the promotions were approved during the Commission’s 13th Plenary Meeting which held in Abuja on Monday, December 20th and Tuesday, December 21st, 2021.

He said that the Commission then adjourned plenary to January , 2022 to continue with further deliberations. (vitalnews)
