Police in Osun State have arrested a traditional ruler, High Chief Busuyi Gbadamosi, the Oba Odo of Ilesa, for alleged stealing of two power transformers.
His arrest followed complaints lodged against him by residents of Araromi community, Ilesa that he stole two of the transformers in their community.
The residents also reported the high chief to Owa’s Panel on Conduct, Chieftaincy Matters and Boundary Disputes, alleging that the traditional ruler stole the transformers.
The Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup has suspended the traditional ruler from office with immediate effect.
Owa suspended him after he was arrested by the police in Ilesa and allegedly refused to write a statement at the police station.
However, Chief Gbadamosi denied the allegation, noting that he was only trying to assist in helping the community to fix the transformers.
In a video, Oba Haastrup was heard ordering Chief Gbadamosi to return the two transformers.
The monarch in the video said he would provide a low-bed truck to bring the transformers back from Ibadan, where they were taken to for repair, according to the chief.

Oba Haastrup also said he was ready to involve engineers and the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company if the transformers had not yet been repaired.
Providing an update on the matter, a palace source who does not want his name mentioned because he was not authorised to speak on the issue, said Chief Gbadamosi was detained for allegedly failing to provide the missing transformers.
The source also confirmed that the Owa Obokun Adimula has suspended the traditional chief pending the outcome of the police investigation.
Osun State Police Command spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, confirmed the arrest of Chief Gbadamosi.
