Markudi – Mr Bernard Unenge, Benue Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Solid Minerals has urged politicians and the electorates in the state to play politics devoid of bitterness.
Unenge, who made the appeal in an interview on Sunday in Makurdi, said elections should not be a do or die affair.
He said those using abusive words on other rival politicians would realise the recklessness of their actions after the elections, when life returns to normal.
“My advice for the people of Benue is that they should look out for quality of the leaders whom they are going to elect.
“They should also mind the way they go about discussing politics, because politics will come and go and human beings will still remain.
“Let us do politics that is without bitterness, rancour and hatred.
“Let us do politics as people who are in the same state, the same brotherhood and in the end we will rejoice after the processes are done,” Unenge said.
The commissioner also advised people of the state to shun violence, vote selling and buying, but come out massively to vote during the elections.
He expressed the hope that the people would use their votes wisely in electing leaders who would meet their needs and aspirations. (NAN/vitalnewsngr.com)
