Ibadan – Intending muslim pilgrims from Oyo State are to pay N2.6 million for this year’s hajj exercise.
The Chairman of the Oyo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Prof. Sayed Malik made this known in Ibadan at the weekend.
He said the N2.6m is the initial deposit to be made by all intending pilgrims for the 2023 holy pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia.
According to Malik, the amount was fixed pending the announcement of the actual fare by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
He said the board will give priority to the 150 intending pilgrims that missed last year’s Hajj exercise due to the limited seats allocated to the state.
The Chairman urged all intending pilgrims to start paying the amount into any of the designated bank accounts of the board.
Malik who jus returned from pre-hajj visit to Saidi Arabia said NAHCON had allocated 1, 441 seats to Oyo State for this year’s Hajj exercise.
NAHCON along with state chairmen and secretaries of pilgrim’s welfare boards across the country recently arrived from Makkah where they held Pre-Hajj discussions with the Saudi Arabian authority.
