A popular trader and respected community leader in Oyo, Oyo State, Alhaja Nusirat Ayoka Kadewolu Adeyemi is dead.
Aged 98 years, Alhaja Adeyemi died on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at her Oke Afin Oyo residence Oyo, Oyo State.
She was born to the family of Alhaji Yayah Ajogidero of Ajogidero compund, Oyo while her mother hailed from Bauchi State.
The late Alhaja Adeyemi lived with her parents for years in Jos, Plateau State and was later brought back to Oyo to live with her aunt, late Alhaja Ajokidero of Oke Balogun area, Oyo.
She later got married to late Alhaji Prince Kadewolu Ajani Adeyemi of Alowolodu Ruling House of Oke-Aafin Oyo.
Mama then relocated with her husband to Lagos and was a well known trader at the popular Tejuoso Market where she distinguished herself as a honest trader.
After many years of sojourn in Lagos , Alhaja Adeyemi returned to Oyo as a result of old Age and continued her trading activities at Akesan market in the ancient town.
A devoted Moslem, She was conferred with the title of IYA ADINNI for her honesty and devotion to the worship of Allah.
She was also awarded “INTERGRITY WOMAN AWARD” by a non government organisation, ANTI_CORRUPTION AWARENESS ORGANISATION NIGERIA (ACAON).
The Eight – day Fidau prayer for the late Alhaja Nusirat Ayoka Kadewolu Adeyemi will hold on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at her Oke Afin Oyo residence begining from 10am.
She is survived by many children, grandchildren and great grandchildren including Alhaji Prince Kolawole Kadewolu Adeyemi, the Executive Director of ACAON.
