UK – Former Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu was on Friday jailed nine years and six months by a UK court for plotting to harvest the kidney of a man for his sick daughter.

His wife, Beatrice was also jailed four years and six months for the same offence.

Doctor Obinna Obeta who served at the intermediary between the Ekwerenmadus and the alleged organ donor was also jailed 10 years.

Recall the trio of Ekweremadu, Beatrice and Obeta were convicted of conspiracy to arrange the travel of a young Nigerian man who was identified as David Nwamini to Britain in order to exploit him for his kidney.

The organ was needed for Ekweremadu’s sick daughter, Sonia.

Their trial lasted for six weeks at the Old Bailey, London’s Central Criminal Court.

The Prosecutor, Hugh Davies had told the jury that the behaviour of Ekweremadu showed “entitlement, dishonesty and hypocrisy.” (vitalnewsngr.com)
