Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State says a more impactful health initiatives would soon be rolled out by his administration as part of efforts to improve the health of citizens.
Ododo stated this in Lokoja while flagging off the distribution of 2 Hilux vans and 42 motorcycles for the HIV/AIDS – TB Elimination Programme in the state.
Represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr Salami Ozigi, Governor Ododo disclosed that deliberate health policies and programmes were being put in place to improve the health indices.
Ododo applauded the Global Fund, implementing partners and the federal government for their support.
Kogi State Commissioner for Health, Doctor Abdulazeez Adams in his speech at the event said HIV/AIDS and TB have continued to ravage communities, hence the need for proper surveillance.
Adams, however, identified poor documentation as one of the challenges hindering the success of the campaigns.
Earlier in a remark, Doctor Komolafe Rotimi who spoke on behalf of Kogi State Director of Public Health, pointed out that monitoring had ensured that over 8,000 cases of TB had been treated in the last one year.
