Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State has expressed the readiness of his administration to partner with the Korea International Corporation Agency (KOICA) in the area of skill acquisition for youths.
Ododo spoke on Thursday in Lokoja while receiving the Country Director of Korea International Corporation Agency (KOICA), Mr Sungil Son and the Rector, Nigeria Korea Friendship Institute of Vocational and Advanced Technology, Williams Charles Oluwatoyin.
Ododo thanked the Korean Country Director for the courtesy visit and the existing strong partnership between the agency and the state which has led ti the establishment of NKFI.
He said his administration was ready to sustain the partnership with the Korean Government, urging the Country Director to facilitate the establishment of giant Korean Technological Companies like Samsung, LG and the likes in a bid to boost the socio-economic activities of the state.
Ododo promised to provide adequate security and availability of land to establish their businesses.
The governor used the occasion to commend the Rector, NKFI Williams Charles Oluwatoyin for his resilience and hard work which he said has paid off for everyone to see.
In his remarks, the KOICA Country Director congratulated Ododo on his successful inauguration while he also expressed appreciation to the Kogi State Government for its continuous support to the friendship Institute, NKFI.
He mentioned that the institution recently got full accreditation from the National Board of Technical Education (NBTE) as a result of the great support and the funds made available by the state government even under tight conditions.
The Country Director testified that such effort by the government was a strong reflection and commitment to technical and vocational education
Mr Sungil informed the governor that a new Korean Ambassador would resume in a couple of weeks and Kogi state would be his first port of call, reiterating that the Korean government remained committed to a positive collaboration with the state in several areas of interest and benefits.
Earlier while Introducing the KOICA’S Country Director to the governor, Mr Williams Charles congratulated the governor on his inauguration and the consolidation mandate transferred to him by his predecessor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.
The Rector, however, hinted Governor Ododo that with it’s state-of-the-art equipment, the Institute is capable of putting an end to crime and insecurity in the state and also wipe out unemployment from the state and even beyond if allowed to do so.
