Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State on Sunday joined thousands of Muslim faithful at the Civic Centre Ground in Lokoja to celebrate Eid-al-Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting.
In his speech, Ododo expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity to serve Kogi State and its people.
He also thanked the citizens for their unwavering support, which has enabled his administration to deliver on its campaign promises.
The governor’s message centered on the importance of reflecting on the lessons learned during Ramadan, emphasizing compassion, love, peace, unity, and understanding.
He called on all citizens to join hands with his administration to build a prosperous Kogi State that would be a source of pride for all.
In his words : “I am deeply grateful to God for the gift of life and the rare privilege for me and my team to serve our people here in kogi State and of course the Nation.
“I thank each and everyone of you, men and women, brothers and sisters of our dear state for your support and for your belief in our aspirations to serve our land.
“This support in making us deliver on our campaign promises and the mandate given to us by God Almighty.
“My message to the people of Kogi State is for us to continue to reflect on the lessons learnt from the Ramadan fast.
“The lesson of compassion, the lesson of love, the lesson of peace, the lesson of unity and of course understanding.
” I call on every son and daughter of our dear state to come and join hands with us so that we can build the state that all of us can be proud of outside the state and the shore of this country.
“I sincerely appreciate you all and congratulations on the eid Mubarak” he said.
In his sermon, Imam Dhahir Hussain urged all Muslim faithful to fear Allah and hasten to do what would please him.
“Servants of Allah! I advise you and myself to fear Allah.
“Fear Him as He should be feared. Fear a day in which you shall be returned to Allah, the Day that those in the graves will be resurrected, the Day when man will see all that his hands have sent forward, the Day, the wrongdoer will bite on his hands regretting what he has committed.
“So, fear Allah and hasten to do what your Lord loves and is pleased with” he warned.(vitalnewsngr.com)
