Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State has commended youths and students in the state for their unwavering support and cooperation with his administration.
Ododo particularly commended them for always joining hands with the government in ensuring development, peace and tranquility across the state.
Ododo, gave the commendation during a Students Parley held in Lokoja on Wednesday.
The governor was represented at the event by the Auditor-General for Local Government, Hon Yakubu Adabenege at the event titled, “Ododo Students Parley”.
The governor described the students and youths as intellectual, innovative, creative, and peaceful sets of persons who have contributed immensely to the growth and development of the state and the nation at large.
He commended them for the vote of confidence passed on him a day before and for not aligning themselves with the hoodlums, storming the streets in the name of protests, to loot the citizens’ properties and goods.
The governor then urged the students and youths to continue to shun violence and embrace peace
He reiterated his unwavering commitment to ensure even infrastructural development of the state, requesting for their usual support.
Kingsley Fanwo, the state Commissioner for Information and Communications, in his remarks, described the students and youths as the most cherished assets of the state .
He commend Governor Ododo for appointing a youth as Special Adviser for Youth and Students matters.
Speaking further, Fanwo emphasized the government’s unwavering commitment to investing heavily in education, describing education as the biggest and most assured key to open the doors of prosperity and greatness.
He expressed his confidence in Kogi State Students within and outside the state to be good ambassadors as they are performing extremely well in their academics.
The Commissioner narrated how Kogi medical students carted away 18 out of 20 awards during the induction of medical doctors in Kaduna State University, in which one person went away with 11 out of the 18 awards.
He added that through efforts of visionary leaders, Kogi State produced 36 medical doctors on 10th September, 2024, commending Former Governor Yahaya Bello for bringing Alhaji Usman Ododo who is doing extremely well.
He urged the students to shun unnecessary protests and continue to support the administration of Governor Usman Ododo, as he remains committed to the welfare of the citizenry and infrastructural development of the state.
The Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Monday Anyebe in his opening remarks commended the students and youths for their resilience, dedication, and unwavering support to the administration of His Excellency, Alhaji Usman Ododo.
Anyebe demanded their continued support as the governor, is committed to job creation, empowerment, and security of lives and properties.
