Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State said there was no assassination attempt on his life as widely reported on some media platforms.
Bello said the report of assassination attempt on his life as claimed in a statement on Sunday by his Commissioner for information and strategy, Kingsley Fanwo, was false, incorrect and a complete misinterpretation of what actually happened.
The governor said what happened between security men attached to him and some military personnel was a minor disagreement which he promptly resolved.
Bello insisted that a minor fracas between men of the Nigerian Police Force attached to his convoy and those of a military unit manning the highways could not and should not be misinterpreted as an assassination attempt on his life.
He said the incident happened in the course of both units performing their lawful security duties.
Bello , said the Lokoja -Abuja is well secured and water tight for any group or individual to attempt to assassinate him or any other person.
The governor called on high commands of the various security agencies involved to investigate the incident with a view to meting out appropriate sanctions on whoever is at fault.
He said this is necessary to prevent a re-occurrence, stressing the need for all security agencies to continue to work harmoniously. (vitalnewsngr.com)
