Barely after 24 hours after announcing the possibility of his returning to the All Progressives Congress (APC), the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has expelled Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa, from the party.
Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa, who is representing Kiru/Bebeji federal constituency of Kano was expelled on Saturday over allegations of anti-party conduct and refusal to pay mandatory party dues.
His expulsion was announced by the party’s state chairman, Hashim Sulaiman Dungurawa.
According to Doguwa, the decision followed Jibrin’s repeated criticism of the NNPP and its leadership.
Jibrin was elected on the platform of the NNPP.
Dungurawa explained that a reconciliation panel had earlier been set up after Jibrin appeared on national television, but claimed the lawmaker worsened the situation by openly declaring loyalty to interests outside the party.
He also accused Jibrin of defaulting on financial obligations, warning that the party may take legal steps to recover unpaid dues.
Jibrin’s expulsion was announced a day after he suggested he might leave the NNPP, saying he was free to make his own political choices.
Amid speculation that he could return to the All Progressives Congress (APC), the NNPP leadership maintained that such a move would not weaken the party, stressing that the Kwankwasiyya movement remains strongly committed to its leader, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
