The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of two revered elder statesmen, Pa Ayo Adebanjo and Chief Edwin Clark, describing their exit as a significant loss to Nigeria’s democratic evolution.
The NGF stated this in a statement signed by its Chairman and Governor of Kwara State, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.
The Forum acknowledged the immense contributions of the deceased elder statesmen to national discourse, particularly on democracy, constitutional development, and federalism.
While Pa Ayo Adebanjo died on Friday, February 14, 2025 , Chief Edwin Clark died in the night of Monday, February 17, 2025.
The NGF said : “The passing of these distinguished leaders is a huge depletion in the ranks of voices that fearlessly spoke on national issues.
“Their advocacy for equity, justice, and resource control will remain part of Nigeria’s democratic history.”
The Forum extended condolences to the people and governments of Ogun and Delta States, where the two elder statesmen hailed from, as well as their families and associates.
“We pray for the peaceful repose of their souls and hope that their legacies will continue to inspire generations to come,” the Forum stated. (vitalnewsngr.com)
