NGO donates cash, clothes, food items to 20 widows in Okene

Okene (Kogi) – Disturbed by the level of poverty stirring the widows in the face because of the present harsh economic realities in the country, a Canada-based philanthropist and founder of The Modupe Smith Foundation, Mrs Motunrayo Raji, has empowered no fewer than 20 widows with a determination to move them out of the shackles of abject poverty.

 

 

The the Founder of the non- governmental Organisation (NGO) who through one of the directors, Mrs Falilat Yusuf disclosed this while speaking during the presentation of cash gift and assorted food items and cloths to the widows in Okene, Okene Local Government area of Kogi state over the weekend.

Mrs Motunrayo Raji explained further that the Modupe Smith Foundation has special bias for widows and the less privileged in the society.

According to her, the main objectives of the Foundation
is to empower widows, provide scholarships for vulnerable children, (indigent women and children) across the length and breath of Kogi state .

She reiterated that because of the loss of their loved ones, who are the breadwinners, widows immediately ran into socio-economic crisis.

One of the beneficiaries, who spoke on behalf of the widows, Mrs Aina Sheidu commended the Modupe Smith Foundation for the cash gifts, food items, wrappers and other donations.

 

Mrs Aina Sheidu said the beneficiaries really appreciate the efforts of founder, noting that they will not disappoint the NGO.

The widow added that the gifts would go along way to alleviate their sufferings as the less privileged in the society,

She posited  that the humanitarian and philanthropist hearts of Mrs Motunrayo Raji would move them out of poverty line, prayed that God continues to assist the founder
