Luguard Television, a fast-growing online TV station in Kogi State, on Tuesday kicked off its first year anniversary activities with Open Week celebration.

As part of the activities, the online tv station conducted journalists on a guided tour of its cutting-edge facilities and highlighting its role in promoting the policies of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s administration.

Speaking during the facility tour in Lokoja, Shamsudeen Seriki, a staff member of Luguard Television, said the station is committed to delivering quality broadcasting that not only informs but also entertains its audience.

“Our mission is simple—quality content that educates, entertains, and keeps the people connected to the realities of governance,” Seriki said.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Ismaila Isah, thanked the Federated Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) for their support to the current administration.

He noted that Luguard Television, which is marking its first anniversary in the media space, has remained committed to media excellence and contributing to the growth of governance in Kogi State.

“This platform is about telling our own story and telling it well.

“In one year, we have shown that Kogi can lead in digital broadcasting,” Isah stated.

Chairman of the Federated Chapel, Mike Abu, commended Luguard TV for its remarkable progress within just a year of operation.

“With the pace Luguard TV is setting, we are confident it will transform the broadcast industry in Kogi and beyond. I urge the staff to sustain the momentum,” Abu said.

Veteran journalist, Mogaji Kola Adeyemi was visibly impressed by the high tech digital equipment on display.

“I’m overwhelmed by the state-of-the-art facilities here.

“This is a bold step toward putting Kogi on the national and global media map.

“I urge Governor Ododo to continue developing this platform until Kogi has its own fully-fledged state television station,” Adeyemi, now Publisher of Vital News online newspaper said.

Also a veteran journalist and former staff of the News Agency of Nigeria, Dada Ahmed and Ibrahim Obansa, Vice Chairman of NUJ Kogi State Council, also lauded Ismaila Isah for transforming the station into what they described as “an enviable pride for the state.”

The Open Week celebration is expected to feature interactive sessions, live broadcasts, and public engagement activities aimed at deepening the station’s connection with its audience and strengthening its role as a voice for the people of Kogi State.
