Police in Lokoja have launched a manhunt for one Oluwapelumi Adebayo for alleged gruesome killing of a photojournalist working with an online newspaper based in Lokoja.
Pelumi, also a staff of the online newspaper is alleged to have k!lled and butchered the photo journalist, Ayo Aiyepeku, in the late evening of Tuesday, July 22, 2025.
Adebayo was alleged to have perpetrated the dastardly act by luring his colleague to the office of the online newspaper located around the Kogi State Government House, Lokoja.

After luring his victim to the office, he thereafter asked him to follow him to a poultry shed located in the premises for an important discussion.
On getting there, he was said to have brought out a big stick and smashed it on the head of his unsuspecting victim.
The victim, Ayo Ayepeku was said to have slumped immediately due to the impact of the heavy object on his head.
Adebayo, a native of Ekinrin Adde, Ijumu Local Government of Kogi State was said to have thereafter slaughtered his victim and butchered him into pieces.
He was said to have packed the butchered body parts of Ayo inside a fridge behind a Hilux van in the office compound.
However, luck ran out on him as neighbour in one of the nearby buildings who noticed and suspected that something strange was going alerted the police to the development.

Adebayo was said to have thereafter drove out of the premises in the Hilux Van with the fridge containing the body parts of his victim.
Shortly after he drove out, police arrived the scene and were given details of the vehicle and the fridge containing the body parts.
The police team immediately left the scene and were able to track Adebayo to Felele area of Lokoja.
He was said to have disposed off the body parts of the victim and was returning when police sighted him and started giving him a hot chase.
Adebayo was said to have ignored all the signals given to him by police to stop, a development which forced them to shoot one of the tyres of the Hilux Van.
The tyre bust caused the Hilux van to veer off the road and hit a high side of the road.

Adebayo was said to have jumped out of the Hilux van and escaped into a nearby bush before police team could get to the spot where the vehicle was forced to stop.
Police were said to have combed the nearby bush thoroughly for Adebayo but could not locate him.
The suspect was married until recently when the wife separated from him and relocated to Abuja.
The suspect,Oluwapelumi Adebayo is from Odo Akodi compound, Ekinrin Adde, Ijumu Local Government.
His father, who is said to be a lawyer is a deacon while his mother is also a deaconess in one of the popular churches in Lokoja.
