Lokoja – Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force attached to Odolu Division in Kogi State have killed two kidnappers and arrested two other suspects during an operation with the local vigilante and hunters.
A statement issued in Lokoja on Friday by the state police command said one English made Pump Action, seven phones, charms among others were recovered from their hideout.
The statement signed by SP William Aya, spokesman of the command said that the operation was sequel to
a report from a kidnap victim who managed to escape from their den on Thursday, May 19 while the family was still negotiating for his release.
He was kidnapped while on his way to Nsuka but escaped from their den, according to Aya.
“Immediately,the police operatives were mobilized along with the vigilante and hunters into the bush.
“On sighting the police , the criminal elements opened fire. During the gun duel that ensued, two of the hoodlums were gunned down while two were arrested.
“This breakthrough is as a result of the strategies adopted by the Commissioner of Police, CP Edward Egbuka, to curtail activities of kidnappers, armed robbers, bandits, and other heinous crimes in the State,” Aya said in the statement.
The Commissioner of Police commended the officers as well
as vigilante and hunters for their prompt response.
He assured members of the public that the police will not rest on its oars in its efforts to ensure safety of lives and property.
Egbuka then urged members of the public to continue to collaborate with the police and other security agencies in the state by volunteering credible and timely information on the activities of criminal elements in the society. (Vitalnews)
