Two of the leading political parties contesting the November 11 governorship election in Kogi State, the All Progressive Congress (APC) and the Social Democratic Party (SDP) have suspended their campaign activities in honour of Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, Alhaji Ado Ibrahim who died on Sunday.
Alhaji Ado Ibrahim died in the early hours of Sunday at the age of 95 years.
The secretary of Ododo/Oyibo Campaign Headquarters, Council, Barr. S.M Ozigi Deedat in Sunday announced the suspension of the APC campaign activities in the Kogi Central senatorial district in honour of the revered traditional ruler.
Deedat said : ” This is to bring to the notice of all directorates, support groups, teeming supporters of the Ododo/Oyibo project and the general public that the Ododo/Oyibo Campaign Council has decided to suspend all political activities in Kogi Central Senatorial District.
“This decision is taken to honour the demise of our revered King, Dr. Ado Ibrahim, who God Almighty has called to eternal rest.
Also in a statement, spokesman of Ajaka/Abenemi Governorship Campaign Council, Faruk Adejoh Audu announced the suspension of further campaign activities by the SDP.
Audu in a statement said : “The Campaign Council has suspended all activities scheduled for today, including a world press conference scheduled for 2:00pm in Abuja on Sunday.”
The statement added that all SDP flags at its campaign offices throughout the state will fly at half mast throughout this week in honour of the late King Ado Ibrahim. (vitalnewsngr.com)
