Ilorin – The candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the November 11, 2023 governorship election in Kogi State, Alhaji Usman Ododo has met with party stakeholders and the state indigenes resident in Kwara State.
Ododo, who was accompanied on the visit by a powerful delegation of top party members and government officials from Kogi State visited Kwara to dialogue with and solicit the support of Kogi indigenes in Kwara State.
In his address, Ododo assured them that the mandate given to him is for the unity and development of Kogi state.
The APC flag bearer said his keen interest in politics is to serve God and humanity, promising not to deviate from the path of growth already set by Governor Yahaya Bello, who he said has laid a solid foundation of good governance.
While thanking his audience for being good ambassadors of the state in Kwara, he disclosed that Kogi State is blessed with abundant agricultural and solid mineral resources, promising to develop the resources for the benefit of the state and its people.
In his remarks, the leader of the delegation and state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr Deedat Ozigi said the visit was to identify with and seek the support of the Kogi community in Kwara State
He said the visit was to also disabuse their minds about existence of ethnic, religious and political divisions in the state as being peddled by some elements from opposition parties.
The Leader said the claims were false as Governor Yahaya Bello who met a polarised Kogi State has in the past seven years united the state more than ever before.
He said the agenda promoted in Kogi state under Governor Bello’s leadership has been the Kogi Agenda, urging the state indigenes to embrace the same agenda.
In his speech, the state Commissioner for Information and Communication, Mr Kingsley Fanwo said Ododo is a humble, dynamic and a goal getter who will consolidate on the achievements of Governor Bello.
He said that the APC governorship candidate is a man who knows how to achieve success in any given task because , saying that he has been part of the success stories of the New Direction government under the leadership of Governor Bello.
Fanwo mentioned that the administration of Governor Bello has invested greatly in several sectors; ranging from health, education , rural electrification, infrastructural development, which cuts across all the three regions of the state.
He identified the Reference Hospital in Okene which he said was put in place to reduce medical tourism.
Aside this , he said there are other state of the art infrastructural facilities across the state, including provision of electricity in rural areas of the state.
In their response, the indigenes who spoke through Alhaji Jubril Mahmoud , expressed their delight over the visit.
They promised to mobilise Kogi citizens to come home and vote for the APC candidate on election day.
They commended Governor Bello for his performance since his assumption of office in 2015, assuring that they will reciprocate by joining hands with others to ensure victory for Ododo on November 11.
Highpoint of the meeting was when Governor, Yahaya Bello made a video call to briefly address the gathering.
Bello, thanked the people for their support for his administration, saying that the party was heading to victory with their support.
He also called on them to continue to support their host governor, Abdulrahman Rasaq and remain good ambassadors of Kogi State.
Other speakers at the meeting are the Kogi State Chairman of APC, Hon. Abdullahi Bello, the Chief of Staff, Abdulkareem Jamiu Asuku, Commissioner for Solid Minerals, Hon. Bashir Gegu, Former Deputy Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Rabiu Alfa, the Rector, Kogi State Polytechnic, Dr Usman Ogbo and Prince Bashir Abubakar Audu.
They all in their separate remarks called on Kogi indigenes in Kwara State to throw their weight behind the APC flag bearer to further guarantee growth and development of their state.
