Lokoja – Kogi State government
has approved the release of N713,716,887 for the execution
of the expansion and reticulation of Okene waterworks project.
The decision to release the amount was part of resolutions reached at the end of the State Executive Council meeting held at the Government House, Lokoja on Thursday, May 5.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Muhammed Onogwu who briefed the media after the meeting, said the fund approval was very key, especially for the people of Kogi central who have for a long time been denied access to potable water.
According to him, the project has been on going and the funds released would facilitate the prompt completion of the project for the benefit of the people of the state.
Also, the state government has also directed 100 per cent salary payment to teachers in primary and junior secondary schools in the state with effect from May ending.
