Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State has lauded security agencies in the state for rescuing 43 bus passengers kidnapped recently by terrorists.
Ododo who gave the commendation on Tuesday while reacting to the successful rescue of the kidnap victims by security agents expressed relief over the development.
The 43 victims were kidnapped from a neighbouring state but were rescued by security agents in Okehi Local Government area of Kogi State.
Ododo expressed delight over the rescue of the 43 victims, calling for sustained collaboration between security agencies and local communities to improve intelligence gathering and prevent crime and criminality in all parts of the state.
The Governor commends the caretaker chairman of Okehi Local Government Area, Mr Amoka Eneji, the Nigeria Police, Nigeria Professional Hunters, Ebira Local Hunters Group and other security agencies for their intervention that led to the rescue of the 43 bus passengers.
Ododo also commended the response of security agencies to the robbery incidences in Felele area of Lokoja and called for more urgency in addressing cases of insecurity in any part of the state.
The Governor reassured the people of the state that his administration will not relent in its efforts in deploying maximum resources to ensure that all communities in the state remain unsafe for criminal elements.
Also the state Commissioner of Police, Bethrand C. Onuoha has assured residents of Felele and students of Federal University Lokoja of their safety.
Onuoha who gave the assurances in response to escalating robbery incidents in Felele community in Lokoja said he had deployed Tactical Team to the area for intelligence gathering, visibility Policing to reassures the Community of their safety.
SP William Ovye AYA, Spokesman of the state police command in a statement said the Commissioner has :
“equally urged the people of Felele to cooperate with the Police and other Security Agencies and volunteer credible information on the activities of criminal elements within Felele axis.
“The Commissioner of Police assures of the Command’s unwavering commitment in ensuring adequate Security of lives and property.”
