Katsina Purchases 10 New APCs For Security Agencies

Katsina – The Katsina State government has purchased 10 units of Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) for security agents in the state to support efforts to end insecurity in the state.

Unveiling the vehicles at the Presidential Lodge of the Katsina Government House Tuesday, the governor said security agents were more prepared to take the war to the door steps of the criminals rather than waiting to respond after attacks.

He said the state now boasts more than 30 armoured vehicles, adding that the inspector general of police had given an additional two to the state.

The new APCs, he said, were locally made in Kebbi State by a retired military officer and current deputy governor of the state, Colonel Samaila Yombe (retd.), at the cost of N100 million.

The governor said another firm had given its quotation in Kaduna, hence more APCs would be procured for the state until there were enough to go round, especially in the most affected local government areas.

Masari urged the people to expose informants among them because “there is no way the kidnappers will operate at selected targets without information from an insider who knows the area and the secret of the people.”

He called on security agencies to ensure that only those youth who were intelligent, capable, and have passion for the job were engaged.

“The criminals are intelligent, they are not dull. Therefore if you want to fight them and succeed, you need security operatives who are more or at least equal to their level of intelligence,” he said.
