Kano State government has asked the NTA, AIT, Freedom Radio, ARTV and Pyramid Radio and 10 other media houses to replace their Correspondents attached to the Government House.

This decision was announced on Tuesday by Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Spokesman to Governor Abba Yusuf.

He informed the affected reporters that they should return to their respective offices to arrange replacements.

No specific reason was given for the withdrawal of their accreditation.

However, in a WhatsApp message shared with the Government House press crew, Bature urged them to comply with the directive, effective from Tuesday.

“Esteemed members of the press, I wish to take this opportunity to thank you all for your hard work over the past year and few months.

“While I was away in the Republic of Serbia last week, certain issues arose, and leadership had to make critical decisions,” he said.

Bature stated that the decision should not be seen as a mark to the end of their professional relationship, expressing hope for future collaborations.

He added that the list of the Government House press team is due for a complete replacement.

Those affected also include Aliyu Yusuf, Director of Public Enlightenment, and Sani Suraj Abubakar, Public Relations Officer.

The message then advised the affected journalists to report back to their respective offices for reassignment.
