Kano – The Kano State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (KACCIMA) has lauded the Dangote Industries Limited for its consistent supportive role to the organisation over the years.
Alhaji Uba Tanko Mijinyawa who stated this while presenting an award to the Dangote Induastries Limited at weekend in Kano also commended the cpany for its philanthropic activities.
Mijinyawa who is the Chairman of KACCIMA Committee on Trade Fair said that the company’s support cannot be quantified.
The Chairman who spoke at the end of the 42nd edition of Kano International Trade Fair said the award was well deserved.
He explained that it was also in appreciation of the company’s numerous contributions to the growth of trade and commerce in the ancient city.
It would be recalled that Dangote Group was the major sponsor of the just concluded trade fair.
The Director-General of KACCIMA , Alhaji Dalhatu Abubakar in his speech said hat KACCIMA really appreciated the efforts and Support of Alhaji Aliko Dangote to the socio-economic growth of the Africa.
He disclosed that eight countries participated in the trade fair , saying that they are India, Pakistan, South Africa, Singapore, Senegal, Egypt, Mali and Cameroon.
The Representative of Dangote Industries Limited at the event, Alhaji Abdulsalam Waya said the company had recorded giant strides in the area of Corporate Social Responsibility.
According to Waya, some of the philanthropic works it has carried out in Kano State donation include the state-of-the-art Surgical and Diagnostic Centre within the premises of Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, Kano.
Others, he said, are the construction of a Business School complex within the premises of Bayero University, Kano comprising of auditoriums, lecture theatres, offices, classes and library as well as the construction of hostels and provision of other facilities at the Kano State University of Science and Technology, Wudil. Waya also disclosed that Dangote Group
is the largest private employer of labour in Nigeria.
