The Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR) has expressed deep shock and sorrow over the recent killings in Anguwan Rukuba, a community in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.
In a statement signed by the Director General of the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution, Joseph Ochogwu, the institute extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, survivors, and the entire Anguwan Rukuba community, as well as the Plateau State Government.
It prayed for strength and comfort for those affected during what it described as a profoundly difficult period.
The institute strongly condemned the attack, describing it as a heinous act, and urged residents across the state to refrain from reprisals or retaliatory violence, regardless of ethnic, religious, or political differences. It emphasized that violence only deepens suffering and undermines efforts toward lasting peace.
IPCR also called on youths in Plateau State to remain calm, vigilant, and disciplined, warning against actions capable of escalating tensions. Citizens were encouraged to cooperate with security agencies by reporting suspicious activities and supporting efforts to identify and apprehend those responsible.
Highlighting the importance of unity, tolerance, and mutual respect, the institute stressed the need for dialogue, understanding, and compassion in addressing the crisis. It urged all stakeholders—including government authorities, security agencies, and community leaders—to work collectively to restore normalcy, support victims’ families, and ensure justice is served.
Ochogwu also prayed for enduring peace in Plateau State and across Nigeria. (vitalnewsngr.com)
